Talk About Tackling It: The Kitchen

No, not the kitchen in our new home. It's not yet finished, for those of you who are waiting with bated breath for the photos. (Yes, I know there is at least one of you who is waiting. You told me so yourself.) This is the kitchen in the attached mother-in-law apartment in which we are currently residing.

Now, you may think nothing of the following photos, but please believe me! This is a huge deal! Taking care of 6-month-old twins and a 2-year-old leave me little or no time to accomplish much of anything. However, now that the twins are sitting, they are happy to hang out in the kitchen with me, playing with the canning jar rings on the floor, while I do my work. Here is what I accomplished in one day....all at the same time...for the first time in 8 months.

A clean fridge...

A clean kitchen...

....and as a added bonus, John brought back from the states a week's supply of fresh fruit! Funny, you would think that one could get lots of fresh fruit here in Mexico, but in our neck of the woods, it's hard to come by. I'm not sure why. Anyways, I love the looks of this...

As a side note, after I had taken this picture in preparation for this post while the kids were at school, upon returning home, the 12-year-old boy looked at the fruit and said, "Mom, I bet you're going to blog about this fruit, aren't you!"

How did he know?

  11. I so love when my entire kitchen is clean. Often the sink and floor is clean, but the fridge isn't, or vice versa.

That's weird about not having abundant fruit in Mexico. I think it would be the opposite. And your son's comment was funny...I think my husband thinks things like that but doesn't say it!

  12. Your blog is so fun! You're on my google reader, so I'm always kept up. :) And you know the Johnsons! I'm related to them. Greer and Lester Johnson are cousins with my dad (like 2nd cousins or something like that). :) I clicked on their blog, and it was fun to see their girls! I used to play with them in the colonies when we'd go down.

  15. I love all the fruit displayed that way. I think if I kept ours out the kids would gravitate towards it more often yet I like mine cold.

Maybe we could do a lil of both.

And I totally get what you mean about getting it all done at once. I barely even HOPE for cleanliness all over...you did great!

  18. What an inspiration you are!!! You make me want to get at it too. Off I go!

  19. I like how the fruit looks, too. I'd actually have to take it out of the pretty display and put it in like, a box or something, so I'd be more inclined to let it get eaten. Otherwise I'd be too busy looking at it to eat it.

I linked you, by the way!

  26. Aahhh! (That's a relaxing aaahhh, not a screaming aahhh.) There's nothing like a clean kitchen! Looks fantastic! In my house that would last about 37 seconds... How long does it last for you, with 3 times as many kids as me?

  27. Good job! This is something I'm going to tackle today. I would have thought wonderful fruit would be available in Mexico? Anyway, you have quite a bounty there and it looks almost too pretty to eat in that tiered stand!
