Dirty Dancing Dog Disturbs Duo

As most of you know, my mother and sister came down to Mexico for a visit this weekend. Along with bringing a spirit of joy and laughter into our home, my mother also brought a "dancing" stuffed dog for the twins' birthdays. She introduced the toy by saying, "You are going to love this," in a tone that was dripping with sarcasm. Little does she know, however, that even the noisiest of toys do not bother me anymore, as they help me ascertain the location of the twins, and assure me that they are keeping out of trouble. When I saw it, however, I had second thoughts. My first thought was, "Please tell me she got two of those and not just one." Actually, this was more a comment uttered under my breath, to my sister, who simply responded, "Nope."

As you'll see from the video below, however, it appears that it wasn't such a bad thing that she only purchased one, as Twin A was very disturbed by the whole thing. It took him days to actually be able to bring himself to look at the dog while it was dancing.

WARNING/AVISO/ACHTUNG: If you think this video is entertaining enough to actually go out and purchase one of these dancing dogs at a Walmart near you, please beware of something. Do not hold the dog by the head up in the air while he is dancing, thus the title of this post, "Dirty Dancing Dog." And do not let a group of teenage boys have this dog to play with lest they place him against the bottom of each others legs.

I don't know if you have to be family to think this is hilarious, but we were laughing until we cried. Hope you enjoy it....

  1. First off, about your cakes yesterday .... you are mean!!! How? I live in Michigan!!! "Fresh" strawberries are several months off yet!!! grumble, grumble, grumble .... o;-p

Secondly, the twin that did not like to look at the dancing dog, was the also the one whom kept wanting it started again... weird.

I can comprehend your comment about what happens when a group of teen age boys get ahold of the dog, all too well!!!! !!!! !!!!

You brought another memory to mind (remember - you said you like me sharing these o;->)

The Christmas after son #1 had just truned 4 and son #2 had recently turned 2, both of them were given these wonderful, good sized, teddy bears for Christmas by Brian's grandmother.

The thing was, the bears came with this box in their back that recorded what you said to the bear and then played it back.

Son #2 was not impressed!!! He was a quite shy and timid adorable little boy at that age, and the idea that the teddy bear was talking back at him was just too much!! About the third time it did so, he sternly picked it up and just as sternly informed it "NO TEDDY!!!". That time it didn't even take a split second (or so it seemed) for the teddy to repeat that back to him, and it did so just as sternly!!!

Oh my goodness, that teddy bear went airborne!!! And a sobbing little boy was clinging to me so tightly, I was quite sure he was trying to climb inside of me and hide with his soon to be born brother. Goodness! I felt so bad for him!!!

Most of the other adults found the whole incident hilarious. And while I could see the comical side of it, I dared not show that for fear of upsetting my young son even further.

The thing was, Brian's grandmother got FURIOUS!!! "That's no way to treat a toy!!! That was a gift to you (as she tried to shove it in his arms)!!! If that's the way your going to be, I'll not waste my money buying you gifts ever again!" Etc. Then she turned on me, "You need to train them better ....." (I'm rolling my eyes thinking about this part of it).

Brian did take the teddy bear away from her and with me holding son #2, so he could see what daddy was doing, he opened the back and removed the box and wires. After zipping the bear back up Brian spoke to it numerous times proving to son #2 that the teddy could no longer talk back.

He then tenitivly held the teddy out and asked "Now would you like to hug "No Teddy", I think you scared him as much as he scared you".

It took a bit, but son #2 did warm up to "No Teddy". That son is now 25 and still has "No Teddy" (which became it's official name)sitting on a shelf in his room.
