Sometimes Teenagers Surprise Me...

Yesterday was the 8-year-old's birthday, and thus she is now to be known as the 9-year-old girl. Many in our small town remembered her birthday, which, as you may remember from THIS post, is not surprising.

What is surprising is what the 15-year-old girl did for her. And I'm not trying to be rude, because the 15-year-old girl often performs acts of service for her siblings, but this time she really went above and beyond.

First, she made THIS triple berry pie for one of our Family Home Evening treats to which we invited family over to celebrate the 9-year-old girl's birthday....

Okay, I don't even know how to do a lattice crust, even after watching her. And don't you worry, I'll post this recipe later on in the week, including directions on how to make our famous shortening-free pie crust.

Then she cut out the sweetest message to her sister out of carefully-cut pie dough pieces, sprinkled them with cinnamon and sugar...

....baked them...

....then covered them with a dish towel and left a note...

So sweet! And to make things even sweeter, the birthday girl wore this hat much of the day...

Thanks for remembering your sister, 15-year-old girl. You are my inspiration!

And now, a slide show looking back on the 9-year-old girl's past year. Enjoy!

P.S. My sister and I are finally getting skinnier!
See how we're doing it HERE! :)
