A Mansion and a Stomach Virus (How Our Travels Are Going)
It's fun when you are staying with your sister-in-law in her mansionmuseum home...
(Photos currently not available)
...with your 8 kids, and your 3 three and under contract a vomiting/diarreah virus all at the same time.....and she has cream-colored carpeting throughout.
Oh my goodness Jen - you have my full sympathy .... on both accounts. If I were to show my MIL the pictures of your SIL's house, she would ooh and aww like there's no tomarrow ... Personnally, we prefer to visit museums, not live in them.
Secondly, having sick kids is always challenging / never fun. But having your kids get sick in a place such as that .... not sure you can take in enough chocolate to deal with such situations o:-p
Here's a hug, and a note of encouragement ( o/~ ) for your day today!!

Oh girl!! I can totally relate...although I don't have the 8 children. I only have 4. But my mom has a home eerily similar to this one, and my three younger ones are always either playing keep-away with the Faberge egg, or knocking over various pieces of Waterford. I usually leave with a massive headache and a knot in my stomach!
Okay, Guys, what I didn't take photos of are all of my SIL's awesome kid-friendly areas. She has a whole floor, the 3rd one, completely dedicated to kids' stuff, like Lego tables, a ping pong table, an air hockey table, some TVs and play stations and lots of space to run. She also has an amazing theater where the teenagers spent time watching movies and eating popcorn.
We spent most of our time in the family room off the kitchen, which has simple furnishings, a lovely Christmas tree and is pretty kid-friendly.
The photos I took are of the entryway and the rooms where the kids never went, but we did have to make sure to distract them so they wouldn't remember those rooms existed and she does have cream-colored carpet throughout!
Her home is absolutely stunning and amazing and there is a wonderful spirit there. :)
OH NO!!!! I was scrolling through all the beautiful pictures and thinking what havoc my 10 and 12 year olds could wreak on that place and then saw that 3 of your kids were sick. That must be awful!
So glad to hear about the kid friendly sections of the house! I was trying to figure out how much duct tape would be needed to keep my four out of trouble in that house! Sorry to hear about the tummy troubles. Hope everyone feels better before you need to load them all back into the car for the trip home! That would be a drive to remember for sure!
Jen, soo sorry to hear about the vomit and creamy carpet. Two of our kiddos threw up at my parent's home as we were visiting for Christmas...though, they threw up on me and not the carpet. :) lol I do love how much beautiful art hangs in you SIL's home. Happiest of New Years to all of you! luv, trina
Wow! People really have houses like that?! We seem to all get sick when we're on vacation. I'm sorry to hear you are doing the same. Ugh! Hope everyone feels better soon.
I'm sorry, but I have an award for you...I cannot help liking your blog...totally understand you ;-)

Statues of midget Joseph Smiths are a little to creepy for me, but the Lama rug is awesome. Or is that an emu?

What a beautiful home! I would be afraid to let my son in there even when he's healthy.

ReplyDeleteThank goodness Judy is so user friendly! Hope you get to enjoy the rest of your holiday - sans the vomiting!
ReplyDeleteOh. My. Goodness. It's hard for me to believe that people actually live in that house, and then when I got to the virus part - oh my goodness!
ReplyDeleteHow did you survive? Did you wind up cleaning the whole time?
the only thing I can think to say to you is...
ReplyDelete"oh bless your heart" !
I can't imagine being there with a passel of kids, feeling your pain!!
there are no words...we just got over said virus..
ReplyDeleteWow. There's so much I wanna say about this, but "WOW" sums it up pretty good.

Oh Wow! Not sure what else to say....now whose house is that...it doesn't look kid friendly....

Mormon Bachelor Pad, funny what you said about Joseph Smith. I never thought about it that way, but you are right...kinda creepy!
ReplyDeleteAlso, it is a llama on the rug, and it is very cool and very, very soft to walk on!~
Christine, you are right, Judy is an AWESOME hostess! We had such a great time, aside from the vomiting and diarreah!
