Images From Our Trip to NY

This post is heavy with images of the 15-year-old girl, as only she, my mother, and Baby Hippo accompanied me on my trip. Hope you like!

I loved the following image because the old man in the window on the left was carefully watering the potted plant on his balcony. It was just so city-style....

Next, we have the cutest little boy on the subway. His skin was so beautiful, and completely the opposite color of Baby Hippo's. I tried to get a shot of them holding hands, but it seemed as though this toddler felt some trepidation about holding my baby's slobbery hand....

Self-explanatory, and really cool...

I loved the pleading look on this little girl's face. If you want to know what she wanted, you can go HERE.

This was the cutest little girl ever, but I could never get her to turn around and look at the camera. She still has really cute hair, though!

Wow, I'm speechless, well almost.
They are amazing, I love most the one ...no I love them all.
Next steps...Life magazine or do you prefer National Geographic?

Oh Ale, you always make my day. Since you asked, I prefer National Geographic! :)

I love it!! I've always wanted to live in NYC. That is the one place I would choose if I could live anywhere. What can I say...I'm a city girl stuck in the country. HA.
You are so funny...Baby "Hippo."

NYC is one of my favorite places! I absolutely love that last picture! Great shots!

The number 3 and the last are great, I mean pieces of art, I really would see them in a magazine.
Then your baby, so beautiful, bride and groom, cops, daughter and dad, your daughter again, skyline, sacred grove.....actually they are all beautiful.
Now that I told you my favorites, what are yours?
I'm curious ;)

Ah, Ale, now you are going to be difficult and make ME pick! Okay, I love the last one most of all, by far. Then I like the one of Baby Hippo in front of the taxi. You can see how much he loved his grandma! I also like the cops because I used the panning technique, where I was moving with them with the camera, so everything else in the background looks like it's in motion. I also love how the path in The Sacred Grove turned out. It was so, so beautiful there.

Okay, we all agree the last is the best, now only one thing, what she was staring at?

I don't know, Ale! I just told her to look pensive! And she did.

alessandra said...

Wow, you scare me! in a good sense of course, kudos!

alessandra said...

in a good way, sorry.

I think the word "sense" works fine, too!

Because in Italian we say " in senso buono".
Oh, today you had A LOT of comments ;)
Bye!

I love you photographs! Did you have to buy a specific lens to have your focal point and everything else blurred?

Also, do you have any good websites that you go to for information?

Thanks!
Lori

Hi Lori,

No, I didn't have a specific lens, just one that came with the camera. It's a DLSR Nikon70. Kind of an old one, but I love it! I just made sure the aperture was as wide open as it could go, and I focused in tight on my daughter in the last photo. Plus, she was very far away from the background of Times Square, so that made it even more out of focus. I've gotten a lot of my recent information at http://digital-photography-school.com. I really, really love that site, and to me, it's the best one out there, that I've found. Good luck!
