Please join us RIGHT NOW for the "Questions About Mormonism" Live Chat!

Good morning and welcome to our weekly "Questions About Mormonism" Live Chat!

If you would like to participate, or just "lurk", please just click on the "__COMMENTS" link at the bottom of this post and leave your comment in the comment window or just read what others have to say. I will be sitting here by my computer from 10:00 AM until 11:45 MST to share my beliefs as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, or, as we are otherwise known, a Mormon. My 17-year-old son recently asked if I thought I was qualified to do this, and I answered that while I am certainly no scholar of Mormon doctrine, I think anyone is qualified to share what they believe. And that is what I am here for.

Even if you are unfamiliar with our beliefs as Mormons, you are probably aware that we use scripture that testifies of Christ in addition to The Holy Bible. Below is a short video describing The Book of Mormon, Another Testament of Jesus Christ, and I hope you are able to make time to view it.

Again, thank you so much for being here and I look forward to talking with you this morning!

We Have a Winner!

Here is the moment you've been waiting for! At first I was just going to write all ya'lls names on scraps of paper and have one of my kids draw out of a hat, but then Krissy, my blogging buddy, introduced me to random.org. I entered your names there....and the winner is....

Congratulations, Jia! (Didn't you just love how by pressing the space bar 20 times I was able to make it so much more suspenseful?)

You can find Jia's post HERE. Jia, just email me your mailing address and I'll get your gift to you!

If you're not Jia, are you sad that you didn't win? Never fear, you will get a chance to win jewelry like this every month! I have so enjoyed your tips, ideas, how-to's and even homemaking disasters (such as Jia's), that I have decided to host my own weekly blog carnival. I am calling it...

This is probably going to be a different kind of carnival than most of you have seen. Here are the rules:

1. Enter your screen name in "Mr. Linky" (this form will be posted at 6:00 AM every Monday) followed by a three or four word description of your post in parenthesis, like so:

mom2my9 (blackberry smoothies)

Your post can be about anything having to do with homemaking. You could consider topics like:

Cooking
Baking
Raising Kids
Gardening
Sewing
Decorating
Saving Money
Studying Scriptures
Crafts

Housekeeping
Food Storage
Organizing
...or anything else that has to do with making your home a better place. You can even share homemaking disasters, because we can all learn from your mistakes!

2. Enter the URL of the post you want to enter, NOT your home page, otherwise I will have to go through and fix it. I might get angry and you wouldn't like me when I'm angry! (jk) If you don't know how to enable individual post pages, just go to your dashboard, then SETTINGS, then ARCHIVING, then ENABLE POST PAGES.

3. Please leave a comment.

DO STEPS 1 -3 AND GET ENTERED ONCE INTO THE MONTHLY DRAWING!

4. Add my link graphic to your post and get entered ONE MORE TIME! (You can get the code below.)

Grab the code!

5. Add my graphic to your sidebar and leave it there and get entered FOUR MORE TIMES EACH MONTH!

Is that clear as mud? But really, if you have any questions, please leave a comment and let me know.

The monthly prize will be a piece of Mexican jewelry, like the one just won, pictured here...

One last thing. If you'll notice my graphic...

...you'll see the words "yours, mine, and ours".
This means that each week I will feature my favorite submission from the previous week- "YOURS",
then I will post my homemaking tip - "MINE",
and finally I will post "Mr. Linky" and we will all enter our posts - "OURS"!

If your post gets featured, you can put this button on your sidebar if you would like...

Grab the code below...

So, I hope to see you each and every Monday! Let's get together and improve one another's lives!

An Honor to be Featured on HowToMe.com

When my cousin-in-law, Ayrel, asked me to do a how-to post on how to fold a fitted sheet, I thought, "Sure, sounds fun. I'll take lots of pictures of cute little Landon doing the job and hopefully somebody will learn something they didn't already know."

Apparently, a LOT of people, as I once was, are baffled by the mystery of how to fold a fitted sheet. I received comment after gracious comment thanking me for the how-to, so, in turn, I decided to submit the post to a couple of different blog carnivals. What to my surprise when more and more strangers, not just my friends and family, commented that THEY, TOO, have the same struggles with fitted sheets! A few days ago I was contacted by HowToMe.com, a website that hosts a different how-to every Saturday, and I am honored to announce that they have chosen my post on how-to fold a fitted sheet, as the guest post for THIS coming Saturday! Check out their site HERE. There are all kinds of great ideas on how to improve family living and it is definitely worth the trip to scoot on over there! Thank you, HowToMe, for the honor. Hopefully more homemakers everywhere can now proudly open their linen closets to their friends and neighbors, no longer carrying feelings of shame and remorse for simply rolling and stuffing their fitted sheets. (Even if you decide to still do that, don't feel bad; that's how my mother taught me to do it.) Hope you enjoy!

My First Blogging Award

Who would have known that my cute little friend, Laurice, would have started such a thing as this? She, among others, repeatedly nagged, I mean, suggested that I start blogging because, for one thing, it would be neat to share the day to day experiences I have with the twins. I resisted for a long time, shunning the idea because I couldn't imagine where I would find the time, but I finally gave in. Two months later, I have THIS award!

I have experienced so much joy since I started blogging in May. I found that I have more than enough time to do it, as I am able to use my "Bosom Buddy" pillow to nurse the twins while I sit at the computer and type or read other peoples blogs. I love being able to read and find out that women out there understand what it is like to stay home to raise a family and sometimes feel like you're looking at the same four walls all day. However, because of blogging, I have learned to find interest and excitement in the average, every day occurrences in my life, like dressing a baby,

teaching kids how to work,

being overweight,

and one of my readers' all-time favorites, small kitchen appliances!

I don't think I'm funny, but I guess some people do, so I imagine that is why The Purple Diva granted me this award. I began visiting The Purple Diva's site a few weeks ago, entered her contest, and now have internet-met a wonderful mom, grandma and blogger! Thank you so much for your award, Diva. It makes me want to be a better person.

BLOG ON!
