Our 5 February Birthdays and 2 Moist White Cakes With Fresh Strawberries

As I mentioned in THIS POST, the 18-year-old boy and I recently celebrated our birthdays together on Ground Hog's Day. And as if that weren't enough for the month of February, the 7-year-old girl became the 8-year-old girl on Sunday, and the twins turn two on Valentine's Day! If the baby in utero comes more than 8 days early, he'll celebrate his birthday in February as well!

At a bar-b-que recently, my brother-in-law discovered our abundance of  birthdays in February, and upon this discovery, begin silently counting, his lips moving steadily and his brow furrowing in concentration. I asked what he was doing and he replied that he was counting back nine months to try to figure out what the special occasions have been. I told him to stop thinking about that and that I was getting creeped out, but he just threw his head back, laughed loudly and walked off.

We had the twins birthday party early, on the same day as the 8-year-old girl's, because my mom and sister were here in town for the 8-year-old girl's baptism, and for each party, it was requested that I make my famous moist white cake with fresh strawberries. To be completely accurate, I need to state that the 14-year-old girl whipped together the batter for the first cake, and I made the frosting and arranged the strawberries. The recipe is HERE. Just look how pretty it is...

(I think the 8-year-old girl agrees.)

And here is the second cake I made, oops, I mean John made for the twins. (I did frost it and arrange the strawberries, though.)...

You can see how excited they are about having so many large people looming over them as they sit in their highchairs anticipating the singing of "Happy Birthday". And look at their expressions once we actually begin singing "Happy Birthday"...

At some point after the song, we tried to get them to blow out the candles, but, apparently, they each had the same thought in reaction to that, which was signified by pointing their fingers at their burning candles...

I don't know what point they were trying to make, but I think one of them might have said "hot", but without the "t", so it came out like "haw". Looking back, they were probably really confused as to why we had been teaching them to stay away from flames for so long, but then we placed flames directly in front of them on their high chairs. Perfectly understandable confusion now that I think about it.

Anyways, I hope you enjoy this cake as much as our family does! I should make it more often, but maybe not until I lose all my baby weight. Thanks for listening. :)

I know the people counting feeling. I have 3 in Feb and my last boy missed it by 2 days. We still say all are the same time. I am planning cakes and birthday celebration as we speak. This year I am making two cakes one for our little girl and then a boy one for the 3 boys.
And I thought I had lot of Feb birthday's.
