Ed was a lover of all things vintage. If you'll remember from last Vintage Thingies Thursday's post, he loved to collect copper and brass vintage pieces for my mom. Today I thought I'd show you some of the other cool vintage thingies he has collected over the years. (We'll omit the 32 "vintage" cars that had to be towed to the property.) Here, take a look...
Here we have a "box" grand piano. He got it in exchange for a hardwood floor he installed and had always planned on putting it in the center of a "great room" he was in the process of constructing. He was told it was at least one hundred years old and no one we know has ever seen anything quite like it. After I get it cleaned up and out of the garage, I will take a photo of the piano in it's entirety, but isn't it this small part I've photographed just lovely?
Next, we have a vintage school desk. I had never seen anything like this until Ed took me into the barn to show me his find. You can see that the wrought iron legs and the wood on the chair and the desk were painted pink a long time ago. The table attached to the back is meant to be the desk of the person behind. Isn't this wonderful?
This is an cast iron apfelskiver pan.
Have you ever seen one of these? My first husband introduced me to one when we came across a it at a yard sale. Of course we bought it and spend a wonderful Saturday morning making these...

Next, we have a cast iron rabbit cake mold. Need I say more?
...and finally, a vintage brass pencil sharpener. It took us a long time to figure out how to use it until Ed finally realized it had a piece missing and replaced it. It now works like a charm and even has an adjustible hole for all different sizes of pencils. Who WOULDN'T want to do school work with a pencil sharpener like this around?

That desk is neat. My Mom has one just like it, she got hers in similar condition and stripped all the paint off of it and restored it. Beautiful! We use to always have the skevir thingys at my Grandma's- so yummy! I never could say the name, still can't obviously.=)
