Our Kitchen: A Work in Progress

Here are some photos of the kitchen in our new home in Mexico. John and I designed the house on our own and we had no idea what we were doing. Still don't. I spent over a year and a half on the kitchen alone. I completely filled up two graph paper notebooks full of pencil drawings until I finally thought I got it right. Obviously, there is a lot more work to be done, but what do you think so far? Although we have never done this before, both John and I are thrilled about how things are turning out. John couldn't have done a better job at tackling all the big stuff and I'm grateful he left the small stuff to me!

Hello! Thanks for checking out my blog! What a surprise- the first time someone I didn't know left a comment. And, wow- you are in Mexico?! I am interested in how you know Kristin. I got to know her while she lived in Ohio- came to think she was one of the nicest people I had ever met- and she was even my piano teacher for a while. I miss her since she moved. :(

Congratulations on your twins! I had no idea how wonderful it would be to be blessed with two babies! I never wanted twins before I became pregnant with them- but ever since I knew they were both there- I just couldn't imagine life any other way. And you have 7 others? Wow! I have a 6 year old boy, a 5 year old boy, and the girls are 16 months old. I kind of think I may want another one- but right now my husband is not on board (which I understand)- but he may change his mind someday! :)
As far as any tips to give- I don't really know- you are certainly a seasoned mom! I nursed mine, which according to your blog, I am assuming you do to. I would just always do my best to feed them at the same time (I wasn't brave enough to feed together- I would feed one and then the other). The days (and nights) went smoother when they were on the same schedule. At night, if one woke, I would feed her and then wake the other. I did this until I could tell that one seemed ready to sleep longer through the night.
Other than that, I am not sure. I am still new at this myself, considering they are only 16 mos. I would just say to invest in a good double stroller- it will make it easier to get out and around as they get bigger. My toddlers are all over the place and into everything- but I love it- they make me laugh several times a day!
Sorry this comment is so long. Feel free to email me anytime at IBBruck2@gmail.com. I enjoy talking to people!
And, I think your kitchen looks great!!! :)

Wow! That is going to be a gorgeous kitchen! I love all the brickwork! I've always thought it would be fun to design my own kitchen. The ones I've had have often seemed like someone who never cooks designed them.

Jen, I think it looks so user friendly - and beautiful. I can't wait to make a mess in it.
